Coaching/Cheerleading

Intentional Coaching
Your cheerleader for action & mindful doing

Much of what we can experience in our current lives is dictated by value systems that were ingrained in us from an early age. Discerning between what we actually and truly believe versus what we were conditioned to believe can feel like walking in the wilderness with no compass. Many of us were not encouraged to trust our hearts and intuition. In fact, sometimes it was seen as dangerous and downright criminal to take action that goes against the accepted grain.

One of my clients expressed to me that she always hears the opinions of her family in her head, & my questions allowed her to consider what SHE really thought.

We might have been persuaded to:
  • Please our family - and if we didn't we wouldn't be accepted or loved
  • Follow the accepted cultural path of capitalism with individualism, money, and power as the central goal - instead of feeling into our inherent gifts and passions
  • Fall into societal norms that were expected of us - to the detriment of our happiness and sense of self

This may have caused us to:
  • Follow career paths that weren't in line with our hearts
  • Not trust our own insight and let others make decisions for us
  • Look outside of ourselves for validation and self love

Partnering together might look like...

Mindfulness &
Follow-Up on Prior Meeting

- We begin our time together with grounding. A brief moment that moves us into the present moment, enabling us to honor our time, let go of distractions, and set our intentions.
  • Depending on who you are and what you need in the moment, this could look like:
    • Calming - Simply becoming still, closing our eyes, noticing our breath.
    • Body Invigoration - Moving the body with stretches, massaging or patting our arms or legs, dance, pounding pillows, bouncing and shaking.
    • Verbal Releasing - Primal screaming, verbal venting, noise.

Layout of Goals for this meeting &
Begin Curiosity/Discussion

-
Sometimes we arrive at a meeting and we don't know what we want to talk about. Often when we allow ourselves the space to "be here now" it becomes obvious what we want to work on. Or, we know exactly what we want to discuss!
  • Some tools we use are:
    • Writing prompts and inquisitive journal exercises.
    • Open ended questions.
    • Self-care inquiries.

Action Steps/Goal Setting &
Accountability for Next Time
-
My goal is always to keep us in the moment to allow us clarity on moving forward. Action and goals need to be manageable and sustainable. We also need to feel that the WHY of what we are doing is coming from a place that feels important to us.
  • Some ways in which to implement our goals and action could be using:
    • S.M.A.R.T. goals - using Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-Bound as our rules (great for more linear thinkers.)
    • Category goals - using subject headings to begin with the client as the "sun" and the "planets" are exercise, work, family, social, home, pets, etc. (great for more creative thinkers.)
    • Setting priorities - using 'rock, pebble sand' analogy, Must do's, should-do's, nice to do's, slices of pie percentages.
    • Brainstorming the H.O.W.S. - Hang-ups, Opportunities, Work, Significance
    • Cartesian Questions - What would happen if I do? What would happen if I don't?

As a personal life coach & cheerleader I seek to be:

A partner in:
  • Helping you achieve your personal goals
  • Exploring your choices
A motivator towards:
  • Your growth
  • Enthusiasm
  • Focus
A supporter for:
  • Awareness
  • Clarity
  • Empowerment

When we take ownership of our life we can begin to design it, clear it of clutter, and step forward with purpose

What do you wish to work on?

Consulting / Mentoring
  • Advice on how to proceed or seeking someone to tell you what you should or should not be doing.
  • Examples of how my experience applies to you.
Therapy / Counseling (Requires a license)
  • Help with issues in the past that are causing problems currently.
  • To uncover "why" issues such as family or emotional trauma and how that relates to current behavior.
